Church Pianist – Job Opportunity

Union Fork Baptist Church is seeking a Church Pianist to assist with worship services and music ministry.

Position Overview

The Church Pianist will support the worship ministry by accompanying congregational singing, choir practices, and special music during regular services and church events.

Responsibilities

Must be a member of Union Fork Baptist Church.
Attend all church services and Sunday School.
Accompany music for choir practice and regular worship services including:

Sunday Morning
Sunday Evening
Wednesday Service.

Assist with Children’s Choir as needed.
Arrive 15 minutes prior to Sunday services to play welcome music as the congregation arrives.
Play for approximately 5 minutes after services as the congregation exits the sanctuary.
Accompany soloists and special music when needed.
Play for revivals, jubilees, and special church services as requested.
Work under the direction and leadership of the Pastor.

We are inviting all of our churches to this year’s Annual Meeting of the Hamilton County Baptist Association. We will celebrate what our various ministries have done the past year, hear from new ministry partners, provide special resources for our churches, invite many new churches into the Association, and so much more. This will include dinner, along with some other sides and desserts. There will also be mission-fair-style booths set up from various ministries that our churches can connect with. Come celebrate what God has done, and connect with other churches and ministries. We will also be collecting food donations for HaCoBA Cares. Call the HCBA office and find out what you can give this year.

Each church cooperating with the Association shall be entitled to two messengers for its first sixty members, or fraction thereof, and one additional messenger for each additional hundred members or fraction thereof, provided, however, that no church shall be entitled to more than 15 messengers.

There is no need to RSVP. Just be prepared to sign in upon arrival.

English as a Second Language Instructor Certification Training

Do you want to learn to teach ESL classes but don’t know how?

We can help!

Twice a year the Hamilton County Baptist Association hosts a training program for those who wish to TEACH English as a second language. This training is online, with modules for you to work through, as you read through your required manual. Everyone can go at their own pace, just as long as it is finished within the allotted time frame. There will also be a REQUIRED 5-hour video conference lesson, on Zoom, at the end of the training period.

Start and End dates of the online modules: August 22nd to September 19th

When is the end-of-course online call with instructor: the following Saturday, September 19th , from 9am-3pm

LOCATION: wherever you use a computer

COST: $50 for access to this training (non-refundable). There are two options for your required manual: a free digital download, or a printed manual, ranging from $9-13, depending on your ordering method. All instructions on how to receive this manual will come from Bailey Biddle after you fill out the registration form below.

First, get in touch with us and let us know you are taking the training, by answering all the following questions. We will need to hear from you before you can register. FILL OUT CONTACT US FORM BELOW!

Second, Bailey Biddle will be in touch with you to ask some follow-up questions, and explain how to pay for the training. After paying, you will need send your confirmation number to Bailey.

Once you have sent your confirmation number, Bailey Biddle will send you what you need to make an account with the North American Mission Board. This is required to access the Pathwright site for your modules.

Then, Bailey Biddle will give you information on how to get your Manual, required for this training:

Father’s Day promotion for TBAH Board Members 2024

Tennessee Baptist Adult Homes provides a Christian residential ministry

for two specific and distinct groups of people; financially needy senior

adults and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.

There are two locations, in Humboldt and in Johnson City, where

financially needy seniors are provided a modest duplex apartment for

rent that is based on a sliding scale. Retired pastors and missionaries are

given priority admission to these rental homes.

There are four locations where adults with intellectual and

developmental disabilities are cared for in a family-like group home

arrangement. These locations are Hermitage, Lebanon, Knoxville, and

Jacksboro, serving 55 men and women with disabilities.

The senior adult side of the Adult Homes ministry began in 1974, making

this year the 50th anniversary of providing care. The group homes side,

though, is only 35 years old, having begun in 1989. It is the group home

ministry that has created the need for the annual Father’s Day offering

which was initiated in 2001. The President of Adult Homes at the time, Dr.

Kenny Cooper, strongly believed that the group homes were going to

continue to require more financial support than the Cooperative Program

was going to be able to provide and that’s why the Father’s Day offering

came to be. Turns out, Dr. Cooper was right.

Unfortunately, the Father’s Day offering has not grown in its 23-year

history to a level that can onset the deficits that are incurred in providing

this care. Brainerd-Chattanooga Campus, our support is more urgent

than ever, and it is imperative that we help Adult Homes reach its

statewide goal of $500,000 this year.

Love Worth Finding with Adrian Rogers

Dr. Adrian Rogers loved pastors. In fact, after he retired from Bellevue Baptist Church, he was making plans to spend the next season of his life mentoring and caring for pastors. Then the Lord called him home. In his final letter to the LWF Family he wrote,

“Today there are still millions of people who do not know our dear Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and who are in desperate need of His redeeming grace. The need also continues to challenge and encourage the church to be about God’s call.”

That is the continuing two-fold work for Love Worth Finding. We are using every means possible to reach anyone anywhere who will listen to the good news of Jesus Christ, and to encourage those in ministry to persevere faithfully until Christ returns.

Before going home to heaven, Dr. Rogers’s produced two key training resources: What Every Pastor Ought to Know, and What Every Christian Ought to Know. These are both taught personally on video by Adrian Rogers. Companion workbook materials are also available. What Every Pastor Ought to Know alone contains over 7 hours of recorded video from Adrian Rogers coaching pastors on spiritual authority, personal leadership, ideas for ministry and more.

LWF has also published the Adrian Rogers Legacy Collection, a collection of 2,500 sermon outlines and transcripts from messages preached by Dr. Rogers over his 32 years at Bellevue. A special collection of messages just for pastors is also available on the Pastors Resource home page found at pastors.lwf.org. My HCBA Story - One Accord Community Church

"I do believe that the Hamilton County Baptist Association is a great tool in the hand of a mighty God."

In November of 2004 I met with the Hamilton County Baptist Association’s Dr. David Myers. Dr. Myers was very encouraging to our new church start. He assisted in setting up a meeting with the Tennessee Baptist Conventions, Church Planter Strategist, and Fred Davis. After meeting with the strategist, I came back to speak with Dr. Myers about planting the church with the assistance, encouragement and support of the Hamilton County Baptist Association.

We attended church planters boot camp in February 2005 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April of 2005 we were recognized as a church plant of the Tennessee Baptist Church.

As a church start we were starting with nothing except the most important thing, which was the clear mandate from God to begin a new church. With our mandate and call clear, our purpose focused, the HCBA assisted us with procuring all sorts of much needed items from other associational churches. Their left over’s and old chairs, hymn books became our treasure. We also received several small grants for Sunday School materials and other needs.

The staff of the association began to pray for our church.

For a new church this is critical. I believe they continue to pray for us to this very day. Mrs. Becky Witt answered a million questions and has been a true guide and resource from the very beginning.

Through the support of the Hamilton County Baptist Association and it’s ministries I have met numerous Pastor’s and began attending the Pastor’s breakfast with associational Pastor’s. This one HCBA ministry alone is more valuable to me than I can tell you. I have made life long friendships with other pastors. I have garnered their support and mentorship. I have their prayer support. I am eternally grateful for this ministry of the HCBA.

In addition to the fellowship with the pastors, the association has helped our church with valuable training opportunities.

Our lay leaders, Youth Pastor, Church Treasurer, Children’s Pastor, Deacons and my wife have all benefited from the training with HCBA staff or staff they have provided.

Another ministry of the association that has greatly impacted our church is HaCoba. I, along with many of our church family, have worked at HaCoba.

"The ministry and work of HaCoba are priceless to this community."

This ministry has taught many in our church the meaning of servant hood, sacrifice and community.

Throughout our journey as a new church start, then as a fully constituted church of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, the Hamilton County Baptist Association has been with us every step of the way.

Most who are not involved with the association have false beliefs about the control the association has on its member churches. While the association has been there for us in the role of support, training, fellowship and guidance, they have NEVER attempted to control or tell our church what to do or how to do it. We are completely autonomous.

"I can say to you without a doubt that the Hamilton County Baptist Association has been use of God in mighty ways in HIS plans for One Accord Community Church."

I do believe that the Hamilton County Baptist Association is a great tool in the hand of a mighty God.

Every Year, our country has the National Day of prayer – and every year, many of the churches and pastors hold a public prayer meeting in the downtown area, to pray for the many needs of our city and country. We would really love to see as many people in attendance as possible, well representing our churches and the Christian Faith. This “ Love One Another ” prayer time will be at Hamilton County Courthouse , 625 Georgia Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37402. May 2 from 12 to 1 PM . Seminar on Reducing the Risk of Sexual Abuse in Churches

Dear Pastor or church leader,

If you are like us, you have been sickened and saddened by the articles published by the Houston Chronicle concerning sexual abuse by clergy and volunteers in the Southern Baptist Convention. Some of you may be asking how can we respond and what can we do about this?

We know that everyone is very concerned that we reach a quick and effective response to assist our churches in dealing with this situation. While we all know that each church is au tonomous and that every church makes their own decisions concerning hiring staff and securing volunteers, there are things that the Hamilton County Baptist Association can offer our churches to assist in thoroughly vetting new staff and volunteers.

We want to be proactive about this.

We have asked Vicki Hulsey, Childhood Specialist from the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board , to lead a seminar dealing with Reducing The Risk of Sexual Abuse for our local churches. She will be sharing how we can protect our children, youth and local churches in the hiring of staff and the enlistment of volunteers and developing policies and guidelines for the safe operations of our ministries.

The date of the Seminar will be in the evening of April 1 at 6:30 at the Hamilton County Baptist Association’s office located at 4062 South Access Road, Chattanooga, 37406. Please plan on attending if possible and invite your church leadership to this meeting. Please put this on your calendar. See you on April 1.

Calling all Youth and College Ministers!

We at the Association are sponsoring a one-day conference for youth and college students in Hamilton County that is being put on by Chattanooga’s Women’s Missionary Union and Sisters Who Care.

This event is being called the “Love Beyond all Measure” Conference, because it is centered around letting these young people know that they are loved beyond measure by the God of the Universe who Created them and loves them.

The reason this event is important is because statistics will show you that the 6th grade-college age group is dealing with depression and anxiety more than we can see on the surface. Dr. David Banks, the speaker for the males, and Tabi Upton, the speaker for the females, are coming to let these young people know that through a relationship with Christ they can have value, purpose, and hope.

This conference will take place on Saturday, February 9th, from 12-3pm, at the Brainerd Baptist BX building (4011 Austin Street 37421) . This meeting is all about how you can help with that moving forward over the next couple years. This is a huge goal that you can get your congregation excited about helping with.
