EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

HaCoBACare Ministries Report

March/April 2008

May 12, 2008

During the months of March and April 1283 people were fed of which 32 made professions of faith and seven rededicated their life to the Lord, hi the church year to date 5,189 have received food, 193 have made professions of faith and 41 have made rededications.

The Health Ministry made 179 blood pressure tests, issued 52 pairs of reading glasses, gave two health consultations, referred one for professional help, handled one emergency and referred six to Volunteers in Medicine

During March and April more than four hundred individuals received clothing.

The computer classes continue at full enrolment and interest continues as evidenced by prospective enlistee. It is good news to know that the ministry has had enrollees from the Sanctuary program for the rehabilitation of women. Enrollees also include persons who want to improve skills to find better work - most of these are of an age they would be uncomfortable in a class with much younger students.

The quarterly Supervisor's meeting was held on March 12. At the meeting it was decided to send a letter or card of encouragement to the home of those making professions of faith two to four weeks after their profession. Greg Casey accepted the responsibility of letting Vacation Bible Schools know HaCoBACare will be glad to work with them in promoting projects including any that would involve collection of canned foods for HaCoBACare and/ or toys for distribution next Christmas. (See articles in the latest issue of the Bridge for further information.)

The email issue of Good News is being accepted very well; however, a study shows many to whom the mail is sent do not open it. While this is somewhat disturbing some solace is found in the fact that we are at a norm for the type of communication. It has been found that a goodly number of "no opens" is due to wrong addresses. An effort is being made to update the mailing list.

During the period March and April four new volunteers have been added to our staff. One of these has accepted the responsibility of reopening the ministry of helping clients find employment. A source of job availability has been developed and it appears another source can also be used in the near future.
